I HAVE NO TIME TO (Fill In The Blank)

Today I decided to record every single thing I did but before I get to that I want to lay out some thoughts I have on the “No-Time-For-Anything Phenomena” that has pervaded every aspect of life.

Who stole our time? (hint…YOU DID!)

We say we have no time to almost everyone when looking to “ADD” something to our day. When I say “ADD” it could mean an exercise regime, hydrating more, reading etc.. but, it can also mean sleeping more, meditation, telling someone you care about them etc…

Someone tells you “Hey you should try x”.

You respond: “Oh man, I wish I could I just don’t have time”

Now if I had a penny for every time I heard this statement I would be a billionaire – you would too.

What’s also interesting however is that I read a statistic a while back and it said that Americans, on average, run out of time quicker than all other nations.

Sounds funny because I just made that up.

The fact is there is no difference across nations with regard to time. We each have 24 hours in a day similar to every other person in the world. The earth actually goes around the sun in 23 hours, 56 minutes and 4.0916 milliseconds (but who’s counting).

What it boils down to more often than not is our PRIORITIES. Additionally, we have a hard time reconciling what it is we ACTUALLY WANT.

We complain about feeling tired in the morning because we stayed up late

What do we propose is a solution: I NEED MORE TIME

We complain about not getting to the gym because we stayed up late

What do we propose is a solution: I NEED MORE TIME…and maybe if the hours were different

We complain about not having food prepared for the week and eating like garbage

What do we propose is a solution: I NEED MORE TIME…and maybe if there wasnt bad food everywhere I go

We complain about not reading books and fostering learning

What do we propose is a solution: I NEED MORE TIME

We complain about not having anyone that loves us

What do we propose is a solution: I NEED MORE TIME…to find the right person

We complain about not having enough money

What do we propose is a solution: I NEED MORE TIME…to find the right job

We complain about not being good enough

What do we propose is a solution: I NEED MORE TIME…to find the right person

All the while these REACTIVE answers are embedding themselves in your head to create an inescapable reality you’ve sucked yourself into. After some time your brain is now hardwired to say things like: I have no time, I can’t, It’s too much work, What’s the point etc…

The only thing you need to do is turn those REACTIVE statements into PROACTIVE ones. REACTIVE is reacting towards life through obstruction whereas PROACTIVE is promoting life through ACTION.

Tired because you stayed up late? Guess what, it was your choice to stay up late and watch netflix. Your body is physically telling you that it DID NOT ENJOY STAYING UP LATE AND WAKING UP EARLY.

Whats your future action? GO TO SLEEP

Woke up late so you couldn’t make it to the gym? Guess what, it was your choice to stay up late and watch netflix. Your body is physically telling you that it DID NOT ENJOY STAYING UP LATE AND YOU MISSED YOUR ALARM.

Whats your future action? GO TO SLEEP

Can’t eat the food that will help you lose weight? Guess what, it was your choice to hang out on the weekend with your friends and NOT PRIORITIZE food preparation. Now your mind is telling you: “You’ll never be the weight you want”

Whats your future action? PREPARE YOUR FOOD

Can’t read books so its your reasoning to never learn anything new? Guess what, it is your choice NOT to foster learning in your car ride to work or during a 10 minute walk after work or during the 2 minutes you spend in the bathroom on a pee break when you normally text or watch a video on MUTE.

Whats your future action? DOWNLOAD A PODCAST/AUDIBLE

No one will love you? Guess what, it is your choice because YOU DON’T LOVE YOURSELF.

Whats your future action? WORK ON YOURSELF

You don’t have enough money? Guess what, it is your choice to spend it on things YOU DON’T NEED. I didn’t know everyone needed a new iPhone as a rite of passage.

Whats your future action? SAVE A DOLLAR

Never feel your good enough? Guess what, you don’t see the future of you EVER being enough.

Whats your future action? SELF DEVELOPMENT

Stop preventing who you ARE by deflecting it back to time. It is totally okay to stay up late, miss the gym, feel like your not good enough, not read, not save money. What is NOT okay is rationalizing the action leading you to say: I don’t have time.

Just simply accept who, what and where your situation of WHO YOU ARE sits within the larger context your life. If you are okay with it then great. If you aren’t okay with it then you can either accept it and forget about it or you can begin to “GIVE-A-FUCK”. Its French for caring.
